December, 2009   Pleasant Day Adult Day Care Center Festival of Wreaths Donation

Wednesday Morning Artists have completed a unique fund-raising donation for The Pleasant Day Adult Day Care Center's Annual Festival of Wreaths.  This 10-year old window pane was refurbished by Dave Gibbons and Pieter VanHuizen.  The design was the work of Jeanne Pinault.  Then, the 16 panels were each prepared by other members of The Wednesday Morning Artists.  Some of the panels were painted in oil or acrylic, one was done in fabric, several had the embellishment of glass or wire.  Each was unique but the combination made for a spectacular piece of art.  Here you see Pieter VanHuizen with the finished piece.

June 6, 2009   Plein Air Painting on Hoopers Island

Wednesday Morning Artists held its first plein air event.  The scenic home of Pat and Curtis Hayes on Hoopers Island was our focal point.  The property offered a wide variety of interesting niches and the area is rich with waterviews, fields, boats and much, much more.  We each selected a place to paint, to draw or to take photos.   Then, at midday, we gathered at Old Salty's Restaurant for a fun lunch and for a look at the morning's creations.

Janette Jones chose a garden setting for her drawing.                   Dave Gibbons painted the trees and the waterfront.

We took advantage of a beautiful day and a fabulous location to draw and paint
the unique Eastern Shore landscape.  Then we capped the day with lunch
                             at a colorful local restaurant.

October, 2008   The Mosaic on Race Street in Cambridge

Wednesday Morning Artists is proud to have been a part of the recently dedicated Mosaic Mural on Race Street, Cambridge, MD.  This eclectic mosaic decorates the plywood covering the facades of two buildings on Race Street that were gutted by fire in January of 2008.

Incorporating pieces of mirror, china, beads, coins, tile and other materials, the design includes the images of a shoe, a Canada goose, a black Laborador Retriever, a fountain, a flower box, a guitar, and a motto (Live the Life You Love).  Outlined by window frames and doors, there are paintings of fruits and flowers, interior scenes of the stores that once thrived here, and Eastern Shore motifs.
